Biography

Born in Toronto, Rebecca Leung completed a Master of Music degree in Piano Performance at the Royal Academy of Music in London, England, where she studied with eminent pedagogue Tatiana Sarkissova. She also holds an honours degree in Rhetoric and Professional Writing from the University of Waterloo, and afterwards studied under the tutelage of Anya Alexeyev at Wilfred Laurier University, where she entered on scholarship to earn her Bachelor of Music degree in two years. She is indebted to her first teacher, Nancy Hou, for cultivating in her a deep respect and love of music.

A recipient of numerous awards and scholarships, Rebecca has enjoyed solo and chamber music performances in Canada, England, and France. She has performed in venues and festivals such as the Duke’s Hall in England, Mississauga’s Living Arts Centre, the Oakville Performing Arts Centre, Hamilton Performing Arts Centre, Burlington Performing Arts Centre, Toronto Chinese Cultural Centre, the Elora Festival, Orford Arts Festival, Cambridge Galleries, NUMUS, among others. She has enjoyed working with Ian Brown, Christopher Elton, and Andre Laplante in chamber music coaching and masterclasses.

As a collaborative pianist, Rebecca has toured with several choral communities in Ontario. In 2019, Rebecca completed her seventh season with the Oakville Choir for Children and Youth as pianist for three of their choirs, as well as instructor of the Theory program.

A dedicated teacher, Rebecca is invited to adjudicate at music festivals, and enjoys a full roster of serious students who are active in festival performances and auditions at the local, provincial and national levels. Her students earn distinctive awards and have been accepted to the finest professional music programs in Canada.
